Manoeuvrability without compromise as McPhee start building on Sliding Bogie trailers!
McPhee has broken the mould in the trailer industry as they start building 12 cubic meter mixers on Dennison chassis with Sliding Rear Bogies. These machines enable the wheelbase to shorten and allow the turning circle of the machine to shorten with it giving more ability to move in a tight spot, basically meaning you can get where an 8x4 or even 6x4 rigid truck can get with a far higher payload!
McPhee has two ways of running the mixer and both seem to be equally as popular within the industry. They can be run as normal using a donkey engine drive, meaning the trailer can not only run as a transit mixer but can also be unhitched from the tractor unit and run independently as a remixer unit – or they can be run using the PTO of the tractor units for those who don’t want the additional weight, cost and emissions of a donkey engine.
McPhee has two machines about to roll off the production line, one of each, and look to be the first of many as both existing units were sold mid-production.
